Every Hive code here comes from Hive itself or its official affiliate programme, never copied from another voucher site. When you shop through our links, Hive may pay us a commission. It never changes your price. We give 50% of that commission to the charity, club or school you choose, at no extra cost to you.
Hive is an online book shop set up in 2010 by Gardners, the Eastbourne-based wholesaler that supplies books, eBooks, music and film to retailers in the UK and abroad. Gardners was founded in 1986 by Alan Little and works from a large warehouse in Eastbourne, which is where Hive orders come from.
What makes Hive different from the big online retailers is that it is built to support independent bookshops. When you shop, you can nominate a local independent shop, and Hive shares part of the profit from your order with it. Its owner also describes Hive as letting customers pick up orders from nominated independent shops, so you can buy online and still use your local bookseller.
The range covers printed books, eBooks and music, drawing on the stock Gardners holds for the book trade. We couldn't check Hive's delivery charges, returns terms or current offers because the site blocked our automated checks, so look at those on the Hive website before you order.

It depends on the code. Many discount codes exclude items that are already reduced, so open Terms on the code before you use it.
Most codes exclude gift cards and items already reduced, and some need a minimum spend or are for new customers only. Open Terms on the code, or tap "Didn't work?" and we'll recheck it.

Yes. When you buy from Hive through our links, Hive pays us a commission, and we give 50% of it to the charity or club you choose. We pay each cause its confirmed commission every quarter (Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct), once the shop has confirmed the sale, usually 30 to 90 days after the order.
No. You pay Hive's normal price, less any discount. Our commission is paid by Hive or its affiliate network, not by you.
The competition watchdog says Aldi and Lidl must now follow the same land rules as the big supermarkets. We've compared all six on basket prices, loyalty schemes, delivery and price promises before the Christmas shop.
