About Kipling
Kipling is a bag and accessories brand founded in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1987 by designer Xavier Kegels and Paul Van De Velde, later joined by Vincent Haverbeke. The name was inspired by Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book, which is also where the brand's signature furry monkey keyring comes from. The American clothing and footwear group VF Corporation bought Kipling in 2004.
The brand is best known for its lightweight crinkle nylon, though it works in other materials too. The range runs from small pouches, purses and keyrings to handbags, crossbody bags, totes, backpacks, weekenders and suitcases. Its bright, hard-wearing travel pieces and school bags for children are both popular lines. Kipling regularly brings out collaboration collections, including ranges with Hello Kitty, Barbie, Disney, Keith Haring and Anna Sui.
Kipling bags are sold in more than 80 countries, through the brand's own website and shops and through department stores and other retailers. UK shoppers can buy from Kipling's UK online store, with prices in pounds.
