About Like the Wind
Like the Wind is an independent print magazine about running, published four times a year by Like the Wind Media Ltd in London. It was started in February 2014 by husband-and-wife team Simon Freeman (editor) and Julie Freeman (creative director) as a spare-time project, after they talked about the magazines they loved while running around Mont Blanc. More than ten years on it is still run by a small team, with a US edition and a Japanese launch in 2023.
Each issue runs to around 132 pages of running stories, illustration and photography on FSC-certified matte paper. It covers road, trail and ultra running alike, with personal stories, reportage and features on social issues seen through running. What it deliberately leaves out is product reviews, training plans and fitness tips: the focus is on why people run rather than how.
The online shop sells single and back issues, ongoing yearly subscriptions, gift subscriptions, prints, wall calendars and collaborations such as hats with Ciele and bags with Kilometer Studios. Prices can be shown in pounds, euros or dollars. UK orders are sent from Whitstable by Royal Mail Tracked 48, and US orders from Denver.
