Like the Wind is an independent print magazine about running, published four times a year from London. Simon and Julie Freeman started it in 2014 as a spare-time project, and it's still made by a small team. Each issue is around 132 pages of stories, photography and illustration on matte, FSC-certified paper, covering road, trail and ultra running. There are no shoe reviews or training plans: it's about why people run, not how.

It suits runners who like a slow read on a rest day, and it makes an easy present for the runner who already has every gadget. The online shop sells new and back issues, subscriptions, gift subscriptions, wall calendars and a few collaborations with running brands.

The best value is the yearly subscription: four issues for £69 a year with shipping included, starting with the 50th issue. If you'd rather try one first, Issue 49 is £12. For a present, the gift subscription is also £69 for four issues with worldwide shipping, and the team will print a personal note if you add one in the comments.

Away from the magazine, the shop has a small range of running kit made with other brands. The LtW x Ciele cap is £39, and the packable rolltop bag made with Kilometer Studios is £48, a light bag that folds away for race weekends and travel. The 2026 wall calendars of original running illustrations are £24 (there's a separate edition for the USA and Canada).

Past issues have included a portrait of trail runner Courtney Dauwalter, a photo-story from the Barkley Marathons and stories from runners well away from the front of the pack. Contributors are runners from the UK, Europe, the USA and Asia, and the magazine welcomes new writers, illustrators and photographers through its contact page.
