SmartRoam is a travel eSIM run by Manx Telecom Trading Limited on the Isle of Man, part of the WorldOV group. Rather than downloading a new eSIM for every trip, you install one permanent SmartRoam eSIM through its iPhone or Android app and then add data bundles when you travel.
SmartRoam describes itself as a licensed mobile network operator with direct agreements with networks around the world. It says it covers more than 190 destinations, with 5G on 81 networks, and that it doesn't throttle speeds. Bundles are sold by zone, such as Europe, Asia, America and the rest of the world, and you can hold one bundle per zone at a time; 7-day and 30-day bundles start when you connect in a covered country, while 365-day bundles start as soon as you buy.
You need an eSIM-compatible phone, for example an iPhone 11 or later, a recent Samsung or a Google Pixel 3 or later. Bundles are bought in the app or on the SmartRoam shop, which shows prices in pounds. Its download page currently promotes an introductory Euro Pass with 1GB for a penny.
