About Truthbrush
Truthbrush makes bamboo toothbrushes and related oral care products. It was founded by two friends, both called Catherine: one a fashion buyer and the other an NHS doctor. The idea came in 2017, after they were handed a flimsy plastic toothbrush in a hotel, and the company was registered later that year. It is B Corp certified and run from Ashburton in Devon by an all-woman team.
The range covers adult and children's bamboo toothbrushes in soft or medium bristles and a choice of colours, Truthtabs toothpaste tablets in a refillable glass jar, bamboo interdental brushes, travel cases and bamboo brush heads that fit Sonicare electric toothbrushes. Handles are bamboo and the bristles are made from castor oil, which the brand says means less petroleum-based plastic, though not none.
UK orders are sent tracked in recyclable cardboard, and spending £20 or more gets free UK delivery. A subscription takes 15% off each delivery and can be swapped, paused or cancelled. Used handles can go in garden waste or home compost once the bristles are removed, or be sent back to Truthbrush for recycling through TerraCycle.
