About Umthi
Umthi is a small natural beauty brand making hair, face and body care in London. It was started by Lolita, a South African aromatherapist and herbalist who grew up in Makhanda, and the brand draws on the plant knowledge passed down through her family.
The hair products start with a tea brewed from six botanicals, including amla, marshmallow root, hibiscus and rose, before butters and oils are added. The range covers shampoo, conditioner, leave-in cream, oils and a multi-use hair and body butter, alongside face oil, face cream, body wash and body lotion. Umthi says its formulas are made for all hair types, from straight to coily, and contain no microplastics.
You can buy single products, gift sets and bundles, and several items can be bought on a monthly or two-monthly subscription for a lower price. Orders go out by Royal Mail across the UK, and the brand also sells to salons and shops through a wholesale page.
