About W Hamond

W Hamond has traded from the top of Church Street in Whitby, at the foot of the Abbey steps, since 1860. It calls itself the Original Whitby Jet Shop and still makes jewellery from jet found on the North Yorkshire coast. A second shop opened on the Shambles in York in 2001, and the business now sits within CW Sellors Group, whose sister shops are in Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock in Derbyshire.

The website sells Whitby Jet pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets, brooches and charms set in sterling silver and gold, plus pieces in Derbyshire Blue John and Preseli Bluestone. It also stocks designer jewellery from brands such as Clogau, Georg Jensen, Fabergé and Brown & Newirth, engagement and wedding rings, and watches from Seiko, Oris, Bell & Ross, Garmin and others.

UK delivery is free and next-day on in-stock orders over £125, and you can collect from any of the group's shops. Items are sent in gift packaging, with free gift wrapping offered. The shop ships worldwide, though some watch brands are UK-only, and overseas buyers pay any import duty.
