Wood Belt is a small brand from Kranj in Slovenia that makes belts with wooden buckles. The buckles are made from walnut, beech or maple offcuts and paired with vegetable-tanned leather, regular leather, cork or a strap made from wooden cut-offs, in widths from 20mm to 60mm. Collections are named after national parks and mountains, such as Banff, Fuji, Bryce and Stelvio, and the range also takes in sculptural wooden bags and accessories like belt stands and wooden gift boxes. Many of the vegetable-tanned belts are labelled biodegradable.
The brand began in 2017 with local wood and leather craftspeople, and its buckle was patented in Slovenia in 2018. It describes itself as a not-for-profit venture set up to employ people from underserved groups. The shop is run by No Profit – Innovative Services for Society Ltd. (Brez dobička d.o.o. in its terms), and its terms are governed by Slovenian law.
For UK shoppers, prices are in euros only. Standard delivery is free worldwide and takes 7 to 21 days, or DHL Express costs €15 and takes 1 to 7 days.
