Gx Pillows: Welsh-made pillows that keep their shape, with twin and family packs

Gx Pillows is a small British maker with one big idea: a pillow that doesn't go flat. Its founder, a furniture designer, took apart dozens of pillows to see why they spread out overnight, then added a set of internal ties that pull the filling in and up. The pillows are made at the company's own factory in Pontyclun, South Wales, and the customer service team works there too.

It suits anyone who wakes up punching their pillow back into shape, and people who'd like to try something different before they spend money on a memory foam pillow. All the pillows use synthetic fibre rather than feathers, so they're an option if down doesn't suit you.

What's worth a look

Here are six products from the Gx range, with today's prices.

The Gx Suspension Pillow is the original, and Gx says most people prefer the Medium-soft version. There's a Medium-firm one too, with a little more filling. The Family Pack gets you six for £149.99, which Gx describes as six for the price of four, and you can mix firmnesses. Front sleepers might prefer the lower Like Down pillow, and the Support Pillow is designed for sitting up in bed or on the sofa rather than sleeping.

The Suspension Pillows measure about 74cm by 48cm and fit a standard UK pillowcase, while the Like Down and Superluxe pillows are a little lower. To finish the bed, Gx also sells cotton percale pillowcases from £14.99 a pair, pillow protectors from £9.99 and fitted sheets from £15.99, plus a Wonder Cooler undersheet made from a fabric that feels cool to the touch. Orders are usually dispatched the next working day, and couriers take three to four days.
