A spare room that sits empty most of the year, a home office that has to double as a guest room, a studio flat where the bed takes up half the floor: these are the problems Hideaway Beds has been solving since 1993. The Plymouth company sells wall beds, the kind that fold up flat against the wall or into a cabinet when you're not sleeping in them, and drop down onto their own legs at night.

It sells two kinds of thing. Complete systems come with the cabinet already designed around the bed, and some add a sofa, desk, table or bookcase that stays in place when the bed folds away. Mechanisms come without a cabinet, for a joiner or a confident DIYer to build into their own wardrobes. The beds are meant for nightly use rather than the odd guest, the mechanisms are tested to 10,000 opening and closing cycles, and they come with a five-year warranty. You can see them at the Plympton showroom by appointment, or book a video demo.

What's worth a look

Six picks from the shop, with the prices it showed on 13 October 2026. Where a bed comes in several sizes or finishes, the price is the starting price.

If you've got a joiner or are handy yourself, the NEXT Bed double frame and mechanism from £785 is the cheapest way in. It doesn't need a cabinet to work, and with a mattress up to 20cm deep it sits as little as 32cm from the wall when it's folded up, so it can hide behind sliding doors or a bookcase. If you'd rather have the whole thing done, the Diva Double from £1,704 is a complete cabinet system that looks like a tall wardrobe when it's closed.

For a small single room or a child's room, the Simple Single folds sideways rather than up, so it works under a low ceiling or a sloping roof.

Current offers

  • Clearance sale: savings across a range of products, including the Diva Double Wardrobe at £682 (was £773) and the Racket wall-mounted folding table at £570 (was £633).
  • Upgrade credit of up to £100 on a new NEXT Bed when you replace any existing bed: £50 for a single, £75 for a double and £100 for a king. You just email a photo of your old bed, and there's nothing to send back.
  • Free delivery to most mainland UK addresses on wall bed mechanisms and mattresses.
  • 0% finance with DivideBuy on orders from £50 to £6,000, over 2 to 12 months, subject to status.

How to save more

  • Check the clearance section before buying a complete system. Several full beds, like the Primer Double and Primer King, are listed there with sale pricing.
  • If you're replacing an old sofa bed, folding bed or even a normal bed with a NEXT Bed, claim the upgrade credit before you order. It works on any brand, age or condition.
  • Measure your stairs and doorways against the panel sizes on the product page. The two-person delivery team goes up to the second floor, and above that you'll need a lift, so it's worth checking before you pay.
