Jacques du Manoir is a Swiss watch brand with family roots going back to 1904, when Louis Schwab set up a watch company in Moutier. His grandson Jacques Boegli founded the brand in 1993, and it now makes its watches at its own manufacture in Mendrisio, in the Italian-speaking south of Switzerland. The idea is simple: Swiss Made watches at prices well below the luxury names, in styles that range from small, jewellery-like ladies' watches to sporty men's divers.

The shop sells direct from Switzerland, but you can set the country to United Kingdom and shop in pounds. Orders are shipped Delivery Duty Paid by UPS, so there should be no customs charge when the parcel arrives, and the company quotes three to five business days to the UK. Every watch comes with a two-year international warranty, and you have 30 days to return or exchange an unused watch. It suits gift buyers in particular, with gift guides for him and her and boxed sets.

The women's side is the larger one. Lines such as Celine, Leonie, Emily, Noblesse and the tiny 26mm Aurora come in silver, gold, rose gold and two-tone finishes, and you can browse by shape (round or rectangular) or by whether a watch has two or three hands. Men's watches include Horizon Gents, Genesis, Inspiration Business and the Pro Scuba 43, with filters by tone and dial colour, from blue and green to gold.
