Olivers BabyCare is a nursery shop with a difference: it's attached to a big warehouse on an industrial estate in Langtoft, just outside Peterborough. The business began in 1993 as a baby shop in Winchester and has been owned since 2012 by EDPA Ltd, which opened the current showroom in 2021 when Mothercare and other local stores closed. You can shop online or drive over and try pushchairs, car seats and furniture before you buy.

It suits expectant parents who want the big nursery brands (Silver Cross, Joie, Cybex, iCandy, Doona, Maxi-Cosi and Nuna among them) in one place, plus grandparents hunting for a gift and anyone childproofing a home. The range covers travel systems, car seats, monitors, cots and nursery furniture, highchairs, feeding kit, toys and stair gates, and the shop says around 5,000 products are kept in stock on site.

What's worth a look

If you're buying the big pieces, the Silver Cross Cove 2 bundle puts the pushchair and its extras in one order, while the Doona X is a car seat with wheels that fold out, so you can go from car to pavement without moving a sleeping baby. Further down the price list, several of the toddler-stage buys are heavily reduced right now: the MamaToyz learning tower and the Callowesse Elata highchair are both close to half price.

The Langtoft store is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. There's free parking, baby changing and free car seat fitting, and you can book a free personal shopping appointment if you'd like someone to talk you through travel systems or car seat compatibility.

How to save more

• Ask for a price match. Every product page has a "Seen it cheaper?" form, and the shop says it matches prices wherever possible.
• Blue Light Card holders can get 5-10% off by emailing proof of their job to the team. It can't be combined with other codes, so compare it with AFF5 first.
• Spread the cost carefully. PayPal Credit offers 0% on orders over £99 and Klarna splits payments into three, but make sure you can clear the balance in time.
