PAJ GPS is a German company that has been making GPS trackers since 2011, when it launched its first EASY Finder from Windeck, near Cologne. It designs its own devices and the FINDER Portal app that goes with them, and its UK shop sells everything in pounds, including VAT, with free delivery on every tracker.

It suits anyone who wants to keep an eye on something that matters: a car, van or motorbike, an expensive bike, a trailer or tools, a dog or cat, or an older relative who likes a bit of back-up when out alone. The trackers use 4G and a built-in SIM, and the app shows live location, past routes and alerts when something moves, speeds or leaves an area you've set.

One thing to know before you buy: the tracker price covers the hardware, and you also need a subscription for the SIM and app. On the plans page, Basic costs £10 a month on a rolling basis, £72 for a year or £108 for two years (£4.50 a month). Premium adds a year of route history instead of three days.

What's worth a look

Here are six trackers from across the range, with the UK prices shown today.

For vehicles, the VEHICLE Finder 4G 2.0 is wired into the vehicle's own power, so there's no charging. If you'd rather not wire anything, the POWER Finder 4G runs on its own battery and has a magnetic back for trailers, caravans or machinery. Cyclists may like the LED BICYCLE Finder, which hides the tracker inside a rear light.

Current offers

• Free UK delivery on all GPS trackers, usually in one to three business days.
• 30-day free returns: contact PAJ first and they'll send the return instructions.
• The two-year Basic plan works out at £4.50 a month, against £10 a month on a rolling plan.

How to save more

• Work out the full cost over a year or two before you choose: the subscription soon adds up to more than the tracker, so a longer plan saves the most.
• Use the quick tracker guide on the homepage to pick the right model. A plug-in or hardwired tracker for a car saves buying a battery model you'll need to charge.
• If you only need to know where something is now, Basic's three days of route history may be all you need; Premium is for people who want to look back over months of journeys.
