Pocketmags is a digital newsstand run from the UK by Jellyfish Connect Ltd, which also runs the print subscription site magazine.co.uk. It sells digital editions of more than 1,500 magazines that you read in its iOS and Android apps or in a browser on a PC or Mac, so there's no post to wait for and nothing piling up on the coffee table.

It suits regular readers who want to cut the cost of the titles they already buy, and hobbyists looking for niche magazines that are hard to find in shops: model railways, knitting, fishing, guitar, gardening, history and much more. You can buy one issue, subscribe monthly, every six months or yearly, or pay a monthly fee for unlimited reading with Pocketmags Plus+.

Each title page lays out the options side by side: a single digital issue, a monthly or six-month subscription and an annual subscription, with the saving and per-issue cost shown for each. Issues are available instantly after purchase, and many titles come with years of back issues and a free sample to try first. Prices show in pounds for UK shoppers, though the site can switch to dollars or euros. Gift subscriptions and gift cards from £5 make it an easy present for a hobbyist, and every purchase earns loyalty points towards your next magazine.

How to save more

  • Spend your Pocketmags Points: you earn 2 points per £1, each worth 1p, and can use them at checkout.
