SureSafe sells personal alarms for older people who want to keep living in their own homes, and for the families who worry about them. It's the trading name of Bora Health Limited, based in Liverpool, and says it has been making alarms since 2013. Its alarms connect to UK-based monitoring centres, and it also sells GPS trackers, alarms for lone workers and accessories such as key safes.
The idea is simple: press the button on a pendant or watch, and you're put through to someone who can help. Most alarms come in two versions. With 24/7 monitoring, a trained operator answers, talks to the wearer through the device and contacts family or the emergency services. With family monitoring, the alarm rings up to three relatives or friends instead, for a lower monthly fee. It suits anyone choosing an alarm for a parent, or older people who want help to be one button away.
What's worth a look
Here are six products from SureSafe's site with today's upfront prices. Most alarms also have a monthly monitoring fee on top.

The SureSafeGO is the main product. It comes as a pendant or a watch, works at home and out and about, and includes GPS location and automatic fall detection. On the homepage, the pendant with 24/7 monitoring paid annually was £75 plus £19.99 a month, and the family-monitored pendant was £194.95 plus £9 a month. With the family version you buy the device outright, while 24/7 monitored devices are rented and go back when you cancel.
If the wearer mostly stays at home, the 24/7 Connect neck alarm works around the house and garden, with a range of about 100 metres. The KeySafe lock box is worth adding too, as it lets family or emergency services get in without forcing the door.
Current offers
- Free next-day delivery: orders go by Royal Mail First Class Recorded, and orders placed before 1pm on a weekday are sent the same day.
- 30-day home trial on alarms with 24/7 monitoring. You pay the setup fee and first month upfront, and get it back if you cancel within 30 days and return the equipment.
- Annual plans: SureSafe says paying yearly gives the biggest savings. Its terms say special-offer annual plans renew at £31.50 a month from the second year, so factor that in.
How to save more
- Check whether you qualify for VAT relief. SureSafe's terms say its prices are quoted excluding VAT, and you declare eligibility at checkout. Check the final total before you pay.
- Pick the right kind of monitoring. If family or friends can reliably answer calls, family monitoring costs less each month than a response centre.
- Send rented equipment back promptly if you cancel. The terms set out non-return fees if a device isn't returned within 14 days.
