Eco Green Living: compostable bin bags and plastic-free kitchen swaps

Eco Green Living is a UK online shop that sells plastic-free and compostable versions of the things most of us throw away every week: bin liners, food and freezer bags, cling wrap, baking paper and cleaning sponges. It's also the UK distributor for BioBag, and it supplies businesses as well as households. If you've been meaning to cut down on plastic in the kitchen but don't want to hunt round lots of shops, it puts the basics in one place.

The shop is clear about certification, which is useful because "eco" labels can be vague. Many of its bags carry TÜV Austria OK Compost certification for home or industrial composting, and each product page says which. Some items, such as the parchment paper, are certified for industrial composting only, so they belong in a council food waste collection rather than a garden heap.

What's worth a look

Here are six products from the shop, from single rolls to whole-house bundles.

The 60L Compostable Waste Bags are a good first buy at £5.00 for a roll of ten: they're made from corn starch, PBAT and PLA, they fit most standard 60-litre kitchen bins, and they're certified for home and industrial composting. If you'd rather change everything at once, the Ultimate Home Switch box (£81.58 as a one-off) bundles zip-lock bags, freezer bags, bin liners, cling wrap, foil, parchment, air fryer liners, laundry sheets, dishwasher sheets, bamboo kitchen towels and scrubbers. For laundry, the Non-Bio Laundry Detergent Sheets come 60 to a pack for £13.00, with one sheet per standard wash, in recyclable cardboard.

Current offers

We don't have any voucher codes for Eco Green Living at the moment, but the shop has a few standing offers on its own site:

• Free UK delivery on orders over £25, sent by Royal Mail 48-hour tracked delivery.
• A free gift worth £13 on orders over £35.
• 15% off your first order when you sign up to the newsletter.
• Subscribe & Save prices on most products, with deliveries every one, two or three months that you can pause or cancel.

How to save more

• Use Subscribe & Save for things you get through quickly, such as bin liners and laundry sheets. The 60L bags drop from £5.00 to £4.50 on subscription, for example.
• Most single items have multi-pack options that take 3% off two packs, 5% off three and 8% off four, which helps you reach the £25 free delivery threshold.
• Compare a Switch box with buying the same items separately. The boxes show a lower subscription price as well as the one-off price.
