About Baharat
Baharat sells kebab spice blends for people who want takeaway-style doner, shish and kofte at home. It was started in 2022 by Aslan, who is half Turkish, and his wife during lockdown, after they found shop-bought kebab seasonings full of sugar and additives. Aslan worked from old family recipes and tested blends in his own kitchen before launching the brand.
The range covers single jars such as Doner, Kofte, Chicken Shish, Lamb Shish, Adana, Shawarma, Tandoori and Tikka, plus a chip seasoning, tzatziki seasoning and a 280ml kebab chilli sauce. Most of the shop is made up of bundles: two-flavour duos, a three-flavour Turkish Kebab Dinner Collection, an Air Fryer Collection, the four-jar Favourite Collection and the eight-jar Full Flavour Bundle. There's also a stainless-steel meat spike for building a mini doner, sold with a free doner seasoning.
Baharat says its blends contain no sugar and no additives and are low in salt, and its FAQ lists the ingredients and allergens (celery and mustard appear in some blends). Orders go out by Royal Mail tracked 48, usually within two working days, and the site has a free recipe blog.
