About byMATTER
byMATTER makes care products for the things in your wardrobe rather than your skin. The range is small and focused: a fabric freshener called Another Day, a shoe deodoriser and fragrance called Another Step, a moth repellent called Closet Guardian, and Liquid Iron, a spray designed to relax creases in cotton without heat or steam. There are also travel minis, kits and a few tools such as a clothes brush and cleaning cloths.
The brand was started by Holly Gardner, who says the idea grew from childhood memories of her grandmother's wardrobe on the family farm in KwaZulu-Natal. The company, BYMATTER LTD, was incorporated in England in September 2020 and ships UK orders from a warehouse in Dorset, with a separate warehouse in Virginia for the US.
The products are described as plant-based, vegan, cruelty free and bleach free, and the bottles and boxes are recyclable. Prices are mid to upper range for laundry care, so the bundle discount and subscription saving are worth knowing about. You can also find byMATTER in a handful of independent shops, including Provision Store in London and Lively Concept Store in Staffordshire.
