About John Lewis
John Lewis is a department store chain founded in 1864, when John Lewis opened his first shop on Oxford Street in London. It is part of the John Lewis Partnership, which also owns Waitrose and is held in trust for its employees, who are known as Partners. From 1925 to 2022 it ran the Never Knowingly Undersold price pledge.
It sells fashion, beauty, home and furniture, electricals, toys and baby products from its own brands and many others. It also runs opticians in some shops and offers insurance, travel money and personal loans through John Lewis Money.
