Ways to save at Decant Index
- Check the 'last sale' figure on a listing before you buy; you can also place a bid below the buy-now price.
- Factor in storage: bottles are stored for you from £3.60, and casks cost around £75 a year to store and insure.
- Remember duty and VAT become payable if you bottle a cask and take it out of bond.
- Read the risk wording: cask values can fall as well as rise, and the site doesn't give financial or tax advice.

Why use Voucher Magpie?
Every Decant Index deal here comes from Decant Index itself or its official affiliate programme, never copied from another voucher site. When you shop through our links, Decant Index may pay us a commission. It never changes your price. We give 50% of that commission to the charity, club or school you choose, at no extra cost to you.
About Decant Index
Decant Index is an online marketplace for whisky casks, rare whisky bottles and fine wine. It is a trading name of Decant Group Ltd, registered in 2019 with its office at 105 Piccadilly in London, and it used to trade as Whisky Partners. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with perfume: everything on the site is spirits and wine, sold to over-18s only.
Most of what you buy stays in bond. Casks and bottles are held in HMRC-approved bonded warehouses (bottle listings mention its warehouse in Alloa) in your name, and you can track them, list them for resale, take bids, sell them back or arrange bottling through your account or the Decant Index app. Listings show a 'buy now' price, the option to place a bid and the last sale price. Bottles range from Ben Nevis single casks at a couple of hundred pounds to very old Glen Grant and Glenlivet releases costing thousands, and wine is mostly sold in cases of three or six.
The site is clear that whisky casks are a physical commodity rather than a regulated financial product: values can fall as well as rise, storage and insurance cost around £75 per cask a year, and duty and VAT are due when a cask is bottled and leaves bond. Decant Index says it doesn't give financial, investment or tax advice.
Decant Index delivery
| Delivery | Purchases are held for you in HMRC-bonded warehouses rather than posted out; listings quote bottle storage from £3.60, and the site puts cask storage and insurance at around £75 per cask per year. Duty and VAT are payable if a cask is bottled and removed from bond. |
