About Rakuten Travel Experiences
Rakuten Travel Experiences is the tours and activities booking site of Rakuten Group, the Tokyo-based e-commerce company. It began in 2011 as FindJPN, became Voyagin in 2012, and was bought by Rakuten in 2015. Rakuten merged Voyagin into the group in 2020 and relaunched it under the Rakuten Travel Experiences name in December 2021.
The site lists more than 11,000 experiences, the vast majority in Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, plus a handful in Bali, Europe and the US. You can book e-tickets for attractions such as Tokyo Skytree, Sanrio Puroland and Tokyo Joypolis, often for less than the gate price, as well as tea ceremonies, kimono rental, cooking classes, food and night tours, diving and snorkelling, hot spring spas, train passes, airport transfers and pocket Wi-Fi. Each listing shows what's included, where to meet and which language it runs in, since some are offered in Japanese only.
Prices are shown in Japanese yen by default. Signing in with a Rakuten account lets you earn and spend Rakuten Points on bookings, and there's a coupon section too. Many tickets are e-vouchers sent by email after confirmation, and refund rules vary by listing; some tickets, such as Skytree reserved entry, can't be refunded.
