About The Range
The Range is a British home and garden retailer based in Plymouth. Former market trader Chris Dawson opened the first store, Chris Dawson Superstores, at the Sugar Mill Retail Park in Plymouth in 1989, and the chain was renamed The Range in the early 1990s. It grew across the South West and then nationwide through the 2000s, and its stores now range from the original Plymouth branch to a three-storey store in Bury.
The Range sells thousands of products across 16 departments, including furniture, mirrors, home furnishings, lighting, cooking and dining, paint, garden, household, arts and crafts, toys and cleaning products, plus seasonal ranges for Christmas, Easter and Halloween. Its paint range includes Crown, Dulux and wilko Paint. The company calls itself part of the CDS Family, with Wilko, Homebase and Bathstore: it bought the Wilko brand in 2023 and the Homebase brand in 2024, and its website promotes Kitchens by Homebase and Bathstore. Some stores host Iceland at The Range food concessions, and The Range Marketplace sells products from other sellers online.
