Alensa is an online optician that started in the Czech Republic in 2007 and now runs shops in more than 25 countries, including this UK site. Prices are in pounds and include VAT. It suits anyone who wears contact lenses and already knows their prescription, as well as people looking for designer frames or sunglasses at online prices. Most orders placed before midday leave the warehouse the same working day.

The range covers daily, two-weekly and monthly lenses, toric and multifocal lenses, and coloured lenses, from Acuvue, Dailies, Air Optix, Biofinity and others. There's also Alensa's own TopVue and Gelone lenses and solutions. Glasses include prescription frames, sunglasses and designer brands such as Ray-Ban, Gucci and Prada.

Ordering is straightforward. You pick the lens, enter the power and other details from your prescription, and the page shows an estimated dispatch date for that exact combination. Specialist lenses that aren't kept in stock can take longer, and Alensa only ships a mixed order once everything is available, so check those dates in your basket before paying.

If you wear dailies, it's worth comparing the price per box. A 30-pack of Alensa's own TopVue Daily was £11.99, while a three-month box of Dailies AquaComfort Plus (90 lenses) was £45.99. Always check with your optician before switching brand or lens type.

How to save more

• Use the lowest-price guarantee if you find the same product cheaper at another authorised retailer. Send the link before you pay, because Alensa won't adjust the price on an order that's already paid. It doesn't apply to promotions or bulk deals elsewhere.
• Combine solution or eye drops with your lenses to get past the £65 free delivery threshold, rather than placing two small orders and paying postage twice.
