Asan is a small UK period care brand with a clear idea behind it. Its founder, Ira Guha, designed and patented the Asan menstrual cup while studying at Harvard, and the name means "easy" in Hindi, Persian and Urdu. The company, Asan Wellness UK Ltd, is based in Hertfordshire. It suits anyone thinking about switching to reusable period products, especially first-time cup users who are put off by the usual stem design.

The range is short and focused: the Asan cup in two sizes, cotton period pants for light/medium or heavy flow, a cup cleanser and bundles of all three. Prices are in pounds, and UK orders usually arrive within two working days. For every cup bought on its website, Asan donates one to a person in India through women-led NGO partners.

What's worth a look

With only a handful of products, the bundles are where the savings are.

The Asan Menstrual Cup is £24.95 and comes in light/medium and heavy flow sizes. Its main difference from other cups is the ring at the base in place of a stem, which Asan says makes it easier to remove. It's made from medical-grade silicone, and Asan says it can be reused for up to ten years.

The cotton period pants come in a high-waisted style in sizes XXS to XXL, from £19.95, and Asan pitches them as a back-up to the cup. If you want to try everything at once, the Super Saver Bundle puts the cup, period pants and OneDrop cleanser together for £74.81, down from £99.75.

The OneDrop Menstrual Cup Cleanser costs £9.95 on its own. It's perfume-free, made with lavender extract and works on both the cup and the period pants.
