Corel is the Canadian software company behind CorelDRAW, the vector design program that made its name in the 1990s, along with Painter, PaintShop Pro, VideoStudio and the WordPerfect office suite. If you've wondered what happened to the Alludo name: the company rebranded as Alludo in 2022, but it now trades as Corel again. Its website carries the Corel Corporation name, and Wikipedia reports that the Alludo trademark applications were dropped in 2025 and that, in February 2026, Vector Capital took over Corel's creative and productivity software.

The software suits a wide range of people, from sign makers, print shops and illustrators using CorelDRAW every day to hobbyists editing holiday photos in PaintShop Pro or cutting family videos in VideoStudio. From the UK, the Corel sites show prices in pounds sterling including VAT, worked out from where you're browsing.

What's worth a look

The flagship is CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, covering vector illustration, page layout, photo editing and typography on Windows, Mac and the web. You can take it as a yearly subscription, which includes monthly AI credits for its generative tools and access to the browser version, or as a one-time purchase that comes with a fixed allowance of credits that don't expire. Businesses can also buy a licence with maintenance, which keeps you on the latest version while you keep paying and lets you keep the last version if you stop.

If you only design now and again, CorelDRAW Go is the lighter option. It runs in the browser, goes beyond templates with proper vector editing and is sold as a low-cost monthly or yearly subscription. For photos, PaintShop Pro Ultimate is a Windows photo editor with AI-powered tools, templates and a slideshow maker, and it comes with a 30-day free trial.
