High-Clean is a Dutch company, founded in 2016, that designs and sells telescopic cleaning poles. It runs a showroom and warehouse in Zeewolde in the Netherlands and ships to the UK, with prices in pounds that include UK taxes and duties. The idea is simple: water runs up a hose through the pole to a brush, so you can wash first-floor windows, conservatory roofs, fascias and solar panels while standing on the ground instead of up a ladder. It suits homeowners with hard-to-reach glass, as well as small cleaning businesses.

Poles come in three materials. Aluminium is the sturdy, cheaper choice and works best at shorter lengths. Carbon fibre is about 40% lighter and bends less, which makes longer poles easier to handle, and 3K full carbon is the lightest and stiffest, with lengths up to about 60 feet. Every telescopic pole has a five-year warranty.

For most houses, a set with the five-sided brush is the practical buy, since it reaches into window frames and corners. The aluminium version starts at £169.36 and the carbon fibre version at £272.04, each with an all-round brush, hose, angle adapter and ball valve included. If you live in a hard-water area, the Water Softener HCWS528 at £71.28 removes the minerals that leave spots on glass and solar panels, and regenerates with ordinary table salt. The Gardena-style coupling for your tap isn't included in the pole sets, so add one if you don't already have it.

How to save more

• Measure the height you need before choosing a length: a longer pole costs more and is harder to handle, so don't overbuy.
• Use the selection guide on the site to compare materials, and only pay for carbon if you need the extra reach or lighter weight.
• You have 30 days to cancel, and poles can be returned after use if they're clean and undamaged, though you pay return postage.
