Scion is a British interiors brand known for cheerful, characterful pattern: foxes and other animal motifs, Scandi-style geometrics, bold botanicals and checks. It's part of Sanderson Design Group, and its designs come from a studio in Leicestershire, with wallpapers printed in the UK close by. Its website, scionliving.com, is the brand's own shop, so you're buying direct rather than through a stockist.

It suits anyone decorating a room who wants colour and personality without going fully traditional, from a feature wall in a living room to curtains or cushion covers for a child's bedroom. You can browse by colour, by pattern type or by collection, and every design can be sampled before you commit.

Scion also talks up how its products are made. Its wallpapers are printed at a UK factory next to the design studio, most of its non-woven wallpapers use FSC-certified paper, and its printed fabrics are produced in the UK by Standfast & Barracks, a textile printer with more than 100 years of history. Some collections are made from 100% recycled materials.

What's worth a look

Here are six favourites from the bestsellers, with prices as shown on the site.

Mr Fox Ginger is one of Scion's best-known designs, a repeating fox print that works well in a hallway or nursery. The newer Oakham collection mixes playful pattern with texture, and the Oakham Forest fabric is one way to bring it into curtains or upholstery. For something more graphic, the Lohko range uses bold, simple shapes, and the Lohko Liquorice wallpaper is a striking choice for a feature wall.

Fabrics can be turned into made-to-measure curtains or Roman blinds, and there's a new Pomona fabric collection inspired by British greenhouses. Wallpapers are sold per roll and fabrics per metre, and the wallpaper pages have a "How much do I need?" tool to help you work out quantities.

Current offers

We don't have any Scion vouchers at the moment, and the shop isn't running a sale, but there are still ways to keep costs down:

  • Free delivery on orders over £150. Below that it's £5.95, and most orders arrive in one to two working days.
  • Samples: order up to five to see designs in your own light. Sample delivery costs £2.50.

How to save more

  • Sample before you buy. It's much cheaper to spend £2.50 on samples than to return or live with the wrong colour, especially since made-to-measure curtains and blinds can't be returned.
  • Plan your order to clear £150. A few rolls of wallpaper usually do it, so ordering everything for a room at once saves the £5.95 delivery charge.
  • Keep rolls sealed until you're sure. Only sealed complete rolls of wallpaper can go back within 30 days, and fabric returns must be over a metre and in original condition.
