A cutlery drawer that turns into a tangle every week is a small thing, but it's annoying. simpleas exists to fix exactly that. It's a young online shop run by simpleas GmbH from Höchst in western Austria, and it describes itself as an official Blum shop. Most of what it sells comes from Blum's AMBIA-LINE system of drawer inserts, which slot into kitchen drawers to divide them into neat sections. The UK site shows prices in pounds, and shipping is free on orders over £50.

It suits anyone fitting out a new kitchen, or anyone with Blum drawers who wants matching inserts rather than a loose plastic tray. Pieces come in powder-coated steel or oak-effect wood, in standard widths that you can combine to fill a drawer. There are also bins, storage jars and organisers for the bathroom and wardrobe if you want to carry the same look round the house.

What's worth a look

Here are six pieces and bundles to show how the system fits together.

The AMBIA-LINE Cling Film & Foil Dispenser is the clever one: it holds both rolls in a drawer and has a cutter for each, so you're not hunting for the box. If you're starting from scratch, the PLAINtrio Steel bundle gives you three frames for a 50cm drawer for less than buying them separately.

Two other pieces caught our eye. The bottle holder turns a deep pan drawer into storage for oil, vinegar and sauce bottles, with adjustable dividers for up to twelve bottles in as many as six compartments. And if you'd rather have everything in one go, the PREMIUMall bundle combines a cutlery frame, a foil and cling film cutter and a knife block for a 50cm drawer. The bundles are named by layout (PLAINduo, CLASSICduo, CUTLERYduo and so on) and by width, which makes it easier to find one that matches your drawer.

Current offers

We don't have any affiliate-feed offers for simpleas yet, but the shop's own site has these:

• New customers get 5% off with the code NEW5, shown in the banner on the UK site.
• Free UK shipping on orders over £50.
• The foil dispenser was reduced from £75.99 to £56.99 when we checked.
• Bundles are priced below the separate pieces, for example the PREMIUMall frame, foil and knife bundle at £146 instead of £180.

How to save more

• Measure the inside width and depth of your drawer before you buy. Cutlery trays come in set widths and depths, and choosing the right bundle for the drawer is usually cheaper than building it up piece by piece.
• Steel frames cost noticeably less than wooden ones: the 10cm steel frame starts at £22.99 against £37.00 for the wooden version. Mix and match if you only want wood where it shows.
• The site advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee and says items that don't fit can go back free within 30 days, so a wrong measurement isn't the end of the world. Returns are arranged through its online returns portal or chat.
