Soft99 is a Japanese car care company that has been around since 1954, when it started in Osaka making wax for wooden furniture. Today it's best known for two products: Fusso Coat, a hard car wax, and Glaco, a coating that makes rain bead off your windscreen. Its UK online shop is run by Nowy UK Limited from Hastings in East Sussex, so orders are dispatched from within the UK and priced in pounds.

The shop suits anyone who washes and waxes their own car on the drive, from occasional weekend washers to people who enjoy detailing properly. As well as waxes and glass coatings, there are shampoos, clay bars, quick detailers, wheel and tyre care, polishing pastes, interior cleaners and accessories such as brushes and microfibre towels. The Offers & sets section bundles products together at a lower price.

What's worth a look

Here are six products worth knowing about as the darker, wetter months arrive.

For winter, Glaco Deicer is a neat idea: Soft99 says it clears ice from the glass and leaves a water-repelling coating that helps stop it freezing over again. If you want one wax to see you through the year, Fusso Coat 12 Months Dark is the brand's long-lasting hard wax for darker paintwork.

Two smaller Glaco products are worth adding to a basket. Glaco Mirror Coat Zero is made for side mirrors and parking cameras, which are easy to forget until you're reversing in the rain. The Glaco QAD + QJUTSU Creamy Shampoo bundle pairs a glass coating you apply during a normal wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, and it was reduced to £18.99 when we looked.

Deliveries go to UK addresses only. Royal Mail takes three to four working days, while DPD takes one to two but doesn't cover the Scottish Highlands and Islands or Northern Ireland. You can return items within 30 days using the returns form on the site.

Current offers

We don't have Soft99 codes from our affiliate feed yet, but the shop's own site had these:

• Free Royal Mail delivery on orders from £39.99 (otherwise £4.99, or £6.99 for DPD).
• A free bucket on orders over £59.99.
• Sets at up to 27% off in Offers & sets, such as Ultra Glaco with Glaco Glass Compound Roll On for £23.99 instead of £32.98.
• 10% off a first order over £30 (non-discounted items) when you sign up to the newsletter.

How to save more

• Buy a set rather than single bottles when you're stocking up: the QJUTSU Car Care Set (shampoo, clay bar and sponge) was £20.58 instead of £25.73.
• Aim for just over £39.99 to get free delivery. A wax plus a glass coating will usually get you there.
• Use the newsletter discount on full-price items only, as it doesn't apply to products that are already reduced.
