Sovol is a 3D printer brand that started in 2018 with the aim of making 3D printing affordable. It's best known for open-source machines: its SV08, launched in 2024, is based on the community-designed Voron 2.4, and Sovol donates to the Voron project. The company is based in Hong Kong with a sister company in Shenzhen, and since December 2025 it has run a UK store, sovol.uk, with prices in pounds.

It suits hobbyists who want a capable printer without paying premium-brand prices, and tinkerers who like being able to modify their machine. Beginners are catered for too, with filament, dryers and spare parts all in one place.

What's worth a look

Here are six picks from the UK store, with prices as shown.

The Sovol SV08 is the core machine, with a 350 x 350 x 345mm build volume and print speeds up to 700mm/s. If you need to print big parts in one go, the SV08 Max stretches that to 500mm in each direction. The upcoming M1D is a dual-extruder printer on pre-order, due to ship between late December 2026 and early January 2027.

Filament that has absorbed moisture causes stringing and weak prints, so the dryers are worth a look. The SH03 holds up to four 1kg spools and heats from 45°C to 85°C, while the smaller SH02 is a cheaper option that heats up to 70°C in 25 minutes.

The store also stocks spare parts such as complete extruder kits for the SV08 and SV08 Max, which is useful because you won't have to wait for parts to arrive from abroad. Orders are usually processed within 48 hours. Undamaged items can be returned within 14 days of delivery if you change your mind, though return postage comes out of your refund unless the item is faulty.

How to save more
