Toff London is a British watch brand that makes themed and personalised watches. It trades as part of Watches2U International Limited, a Croydon watch retailer, and every watch is built to order and hand assembled in its London workshop. It suits anyone hunting for a personal gift, whether that's a watch with a grandchild's photo for Grandma, a dog-print dial for a pet lover or a darts watch for someone who never misses a match.

The personalised watches work simply. You choose a men's or ladies' case and strap, upload a photo, a picture of a pet, a wedding snap or a child's drawing for the dial, and add up to three lines of free engraving on the back. There's also a big range of ready-designed dials, from robins and poppies to football, zodiac signs and country flags.

What's worth a look

Here are six watches from the site, with the prices shown when we checked.

The Ladies Personalised Photo Gift Watch has a 38mm case in silver, gold or rose gold and a long list of strap colours, and it's £39 against an RRP of £89. The men's version, the Mens Personalised Photo Engraved Gift Watch, has a 42mm case and is £49 instead of £99.

For a ready-made design, the Ladies Robin Bird Watch is a wintry pick at £49, down from £89, while darts fans have the Dartboard 180 and Black Darts Batons watches, both £49 instead of £99.

The watches we looked at use a quartz movement, and Toff London watches come with a two-year warranty covering parts and movement, and are water resistant to 3ATM. That means they're fine for splashes and washing your hands, but they should come off for showers and swimming.

How to save more

• Pay for next-day delivery only if you need it. Standard UK delivery is £3.99 by Royal Mail Tracked 48, and next-day is £4.99 when you order before 2pm on a working day.
• Use the free engraving rather than buying a separate card. A short message on the back makes the watch the gift.
• Check the price on the product page itself. Some designs have more than one listing at different prices, such as the Robin watch, which appears at £49 and at £89.
