Christmas jumpers 2026 compared: M&S, Matalan, Peacocks and John Lewis prices for adults and kids

Christmas Jumper Day is on Thursday 10 December 2026, Save the Children says, with a suggested donation of £2 for adults and £1 for children. If you need jumpers for the whole family, prices vary a lot. When we checked on 1 November, kids' Christmas tops started at £7 and adults' at about £14, while some knits at John Lewis cost well over £100.

Matalan

Matalan had a red or navy Fair Isle matching family range: £22 for adults and £12 to £16 for boys' and girls' sizes (1-13 years). Other kids' options included a Holly Jolly sweatshirt (1-8 years) at £7, a bear graphic sweatshirt (7-15 years) at £8 to £10 and a 3D crochet jumper (1-8 years) at £13 to £15. An adult Jingle Crew sweatshirt was £14, and licensed character sweatshirts were £25 to £34. Several items showed 20% off.

Peacocks

Peacocks had women's sequin and Fair Isle jumpers at £14 to £20, some showing reduced prices, and a men's navy stag quarter-zip at £19.20. Older girls' jumpers and sweatshirts were £14 to £15, and an older boys' Christmas football sweatshirt was £10.

M&S

M&S listed 173 Christmas jumpers. Women's prices started at £18 for a sparkly crew neck knitted top, with Fair Isle jumpers at £32 to £36. Men's started at £32 for a pure cotton Spencer Bear crew neck, with Fair Isle half-zips at £38 to £49. Kids' prices started at £10 for a sequin sweatshirt (2-8 years), with a Spider-Man jumper at £16 and a novelty dog knit (6-16 years) at £18.

John Lewis

John Lewis focuses on branded knitwear. Baby Fair Isle jumpers were £16 to £22, Monsoon kids' Christmas jumpers £26 to £34 and Mini Boden £37. Adult knits from brands such as Boden, Chinti & Parker and Celtic & Co ranged from about £45 to £150.

Primark, Next and Asda George

We tried to check Primark, Next and Asda's George, but their websites blocked our automated checks, so we haven't included their prices.

Worked example: a matching family of four

• Matalan Fair Isle: two adults at £22 plus two children at £12 to £16 = £68 to £76.
• M&S: a Fair Isle crew neck jumper (£32), a men's Spencer Bear crew neck (£32) and two kids' patterned jumpers (2-8 years) at £14 = £92.
• Budget mix: two Matalan Jingle Crew sweatshirts (£14) and two Holly Jolly kids' sweatshirts (£7) = £42.

Where a price is shown as a range, the smallest sizes usually cost least, so the Matalan figure depends on your children's ages. Add £6 in suggested donations if all four take part in Christmas Jumper Day, and remember that a jumper bought for 10 December can be worn for the rest of the season too.

What to do now

1. Check what you already own. Last year's jumper, or a jumper with tinsel added, works just as well for Christmas Jumper Day.
2. Look at the size price bands. Kids' prices often go up with age, so check the price for the size you need.
3. Check the fabric. Sweatshirts are often cheaper and washable at higher temperatures than knits.
4. Swap or rent through school, friends or local swap groups.
5. Buy before December for the best range of sizes.
