Anker SOLIX UK: power stations, solar batteries and what they cost

Anker SOLIX is the energy arm of Anker, the charging brand. Its UK store sells portable power stations, plug-in and home solar batteries, solar panels and accessories. It covers everything from a backup battery for camping or a campervan to a system that stores solar power for your home. The range also includes home backup systems, an EV charger and electric coolers.

It suits two kinds of buyer: people who want portable power for trips, power cuts or outdoor work, and homeowners with solar panels, or plans for them, who want to store what they generate and use it later.

The store also promotes Anker PowerOS, its home energy management system, which ties the batteries, meters and panels together in the Anker app. That matters if you're building a system bit by bit, because the accessories in the range are designed to work with the main units rather than as standalone gadgets.

What's worth a look

Here are six products from the UK store, from a £29 cable to a home battery system.

For home energy, the Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro is the headline product, an all-in-one solar battery designed for UK homes. It's currently £1,699, down from £2,129. The Smart Meter Gen 2 (£89) works alongside the Solarbank system and monitors your power in real time, so output can be matched to what your home is actually using.

For portable power, the C1000 Gen 2 is £599. It has a 1,024Wh capacity and 2,000W output, and Anker says it recharges fully in 49 minutes. The bigger C2000 Gen 2 doubles the capacity to 2,048Wh for £999. The S2000 is listed at £849, down from £1,099. It's on pre-order rather than in stock, so check the dispatch date before you buy. Anker says the S2000 can keep a fridge running for up to 35 hours and switches over in under 10ms as a UPS, which makes it one to consider if you need backup for medical devices.

The Solar Panel Y Cable (£29) is a small accessory for connecting panels. It's a reminder to check what's in the box and what cables your setup needs before you order, so you don't end up paying for a second delivery.

Current offers

• 12% off your first purchase: new customers get 12% off. Anker says it applies to the MSRP and can't be combined with other discounts.
• Black Friday: Anker SOLIX says its Black Friday sale starts on 6 November, and you can subscribe for early access.
• Several products already show reduced prices, including the Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro and the S2000.

How to save more

• Compare the first-order discount with sale prices. The 12% code applies to the full price and can't be stacked, so on items that are already reduced, work out which gives the lower total.
• Get the right capacity. If you only need to run a few devices on a camping trip, the C1000 Gen 2 costs £400 less than the C2000 Gen 2.
• Sign up before 6 November if you're planning a big purchase like a home battery, so you hear about the Black Friday prices first.
