Beauty Outlet is a discount beauty chain based in Skegness, Lincolnshire, with 27 stores around the UK and an online shop listing more than 20,000 products. The idea is simple: well-known makeup, nail and skincare brands at lower prices than you'd usually pay on the high street. It's run by Beauty Outlet Limited, which was set up in 2014.

The brand list is long and very familiar. Revolution, Rimmel, Maybelline, NYX, Max Factor, L'Oreal, Barry M, W7 and Technic sit alongside nail names such as OPI, Essie and Sally Hansen, plus tools from Real Techniques and EcoTools, lashes from Eylure and tanning from Bondi Sands. There are also sections for haircare, bath and body, fragrance and gift sets, and a range of Beauty Outlet's own products.

It's a good fit for makeup fans who like to try new shades without spending much, and for anyone stocking up on basics such as wipes, nail polish or body mist. Plenty of lines are marked down a long way from their regular price, but shade ranges can be patchy, so it's worth checking yours is there before you get attached to a product.

What's worth a look

A few of the reduced lines and multi-buy favourites on the site now.

The Revolution XX Glow Skin Fauxxdation Foundation was £3.99 instead of £15, with a wide run of shades listed. If you enjoy a lucky dip, the Beauty Outlet Mystery Box is £10 against a listed £50, with a random mix of makeup, skincare and nail products. You can't pick what's inside and you might get duplicates.

Everyday bits are cheap too. Cherish micellar water facial wipes were £1 instead of £2, and the Revolution Satin Kiss Lipliner was £1.99 instead of £5, in a dozen shades.

We don't have any codes for Beauty Outlet yet, but the shop's Special Offers menu was full of multi-buys when we looked:

• OPI nail lacquers 2 for £12, with single bottles at £6.99.
• Essie nail polish £4.99 or 2 for £8, and Revolution nail polish 3 for 2.
• W7 Body Mist £3.99 or 3 for £10.
• Omerta 3 for £20, and Linn Young and Georges Mezotti 3 for £25.
• The Beauty Outlet Mystery Box for £10, down from £50.

How to save more

• Build your basket around the multi-buys. Mixing three W7 body mists or two OPI shades brings the price per item down a lot.
• Postage starts at £2.99, so it makes sense to combine a few bits into one order rather than buying one item at a time.
• Read the refund policy before you buy. Sale items and opened beauty products can't be returned, and you pay the postage on anything that can.
