Bewley & Ritch is a British menswear label that launched in Manchester in 2011. The brand story credits two partners, Ralph Bewley and Eddie Ritch, and talks up English heritage with a bit of Riviera glamour, but the clothes are easy smart-casual staples rather than anything flashy. The online shop is run from Knutsford in Cheshire by BOI Holdings Ltd.

The range covers polo shirts, Oxford and short-sleeved shirts, overshirts, hoodies, knitwear, puffer jackets and gilets, T-shirts, jeans, chinos, shorts, swim shorts and boxer multipacks. Autumn is a good time to look, with new quarter-zips, cable knits and textured overshirts in the New Arrivals section.

You may already know the name from independent menswear shops or from Jacamo, Premier Man and JD Williams, which also stock it. The brand notes that sizes on those sites follow a different spec from its own, so use the size guide on bewleyandritch.com when you buy direct. It suits men who want tidy everyday clothes at sensible prices, and anyone happy to hunt through a sale.

What's worth a look

Six pieces that cover a winter wardrobe, all reduced when we looked.

The Brocksten Cable Knit Jumper in light stone is an acrylic and wool mix at £35, down from £45. For bargain hunters, the Newbury Straight Fit Jeans were £22 instead of £60, and the Stanten Puffer Gilet was just £14.99.

Each product page lists the fabric, which helps if you're fussy about what you wear. The Feldstan quarter-zip and the Earnshaw overshirt are 100% polyester, while the Newbury jeans are 98% cotton with 2% elastane for a little give. Basics are cheap too: the Albireo 5-pack of boxers was £18, down from £39.

We don't have any codes for Bewley & Ritch yet. When we looked, the site itself was offering:

• Sign up for emails before your first order to get the 25% welcome discount.
• Standard delivery is £3.99, so adding a second sale item to pass £50 can pay for itself. The delivery page has the cut-off times.
• Buying gifts? Orders placed between 1 November and 20 December can be returned until 31 January, according to the returns page. You pay the return postage unless the item is faulty or wrong.
