Everimaging is a software company that has been making photo tools since 2009. It started with HDR Darkroom, a desktop program for high dynamic range photography, and in 2012 launched Fotor, the online photo editor and design platform that most people now know it for. The family also includes GoArt for painting-style art filters, Clipfly for AI video and PortraitMe for AI headshots.

Fotor suits anyone who wants quick, decent-looking results without learning professional software: small businesses making product photos and social posts, people restoring old family pictures, and anyone who needs a flyer, invitation or collage in a hurry. It works in a web browser, so there's nothing to install on a laptop, and there are mobile apps too.

Fotor is a US-dollar service. There's a free Basic plan and three paid tiers, Pro, Pro+ and Max, which you can pay for monthly or yearly. The prices load in your browser on the pricing page rather than in the page itself, so check them there before you subscribe.

What's worth a look

These six Fotor tools cover the jobs people most often use it for.

The AI photo restoration tool is a good one to try with a scanned family photo: it aims to repair scratches and tears, sharpen faded faces and add colour to black and white pictures. For anyone selling online, the background remover cuts out a product or person in one click and gives you a transparent PNG, and it can work through images in bulk.

The collage maker has more than 1,000 layouts and photo grids, and the templates library covers cards, Facebook and Instagram posts, invitations and flyers. The AI image generator turns a text prompt into a picture using a choice of AI models, while the headshot generator makes business-style portraits from your own photos.

Current offers

We don't have any Everimaging offers from the affiliate feed yet. On Fotor's own site the main saving is the Basic plan, which is free with no time limit. The Max plan was tagged "Special Offer" when we looked, but no details were shown, and the pricing page has a box for a promo code if you have one.

How to save more

• Do as much as you can on the free Basic plan first. Many tools, such as the collage maker and background remover, let you start without paying.
• Pay attention to billing: the comparison table shows prices for yearly billing, and Fotor subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
• Fotor's terms say subscription fees aren't refundable, so if you only need Pro for one project, choose monthly and set a reminder to cancel.
