FlyKube sells surprise trips. You choose when you want to go, where you're flying from, how many of you are travelling and how much you want to spend, and FlyKube books return flights and a central hotel. The catch, and the fun, is that you don't know where you're going until 48 hours before departure, when the destination arrives by email. The FlyKube app reveals it almost straight away if you can't wait.

The company was founded in Barcelona in 2017 and says it has sent more than 250,000 travellers away since. It's run by Kube Ecosystem SL and works in nine languages. The English site shows prices in euros by default, but there's a currency switcher that includes pounds, so check the total in the currency you'll pay in.

It suits couples and friends who enjoy a city break but can't face the planning, and anyone who has done the obvious places and wants a nudge somewhere new. Before you book you can discard cities you've already visited, so you won't end up in Paris for the third time. Standard 2 to 3 star hotels are included in the price, and you can upgrade to Superior (4 star) or Premium (5 star).

Booking takes a few steps. You pick the type of trip, enter your departure city, dates and fellow travellers, and FlyKube shows you the options that fit. Once you've chosen your flights and hotel level you can still make changes and add extras before paying. A destination guide comes with the trip, so you have some ideas ready when the reveal lands. Customer service works by WhatsApp, Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm Central European Time.
