Giuseppe Zanotti is an Italian luxury label founded in 1994 in San Mauro Pascoli, a shoemaking town near Rimini. The designer made his name with sculptural, jewelled heels, then added luxury sneakers, bags, jewellery and leather clothing. He still leads the creative side of the house today.

This is a shop for a special purchase rather than everyday shoes: most pairs cost several hundred pounds or more. There's no Giuseppe Zanotti boutique listed in the UK, so the brand's UK website, which shows prices in pounds, is the most direct way to buy from the label itself.

What's worth a look

The Salamander styles show the house look well. The Salamander Mule 90 is a satin mule with crisscross straps and a conical heel finished with a gold-tone, rhinestone salamander tail, and the Salamander Slingback 105 puts the same detail on the toe of a black satin stiletto. For winter, the Desire Ankle Boot 105 is a pointed black suede boot on a 105mm heel, and the Jewelry Texano Bootie 55 is a croc-print cowboy boot with a rhinestone-studded metal toe cap.

Men's shoes are more restrained: the Donnie Monk-Strap has a square toe and double gold-tone buckles, and the Sebhastian Lace-Up is an eel-skin shoe with waxed cotton laces.

If boots are on your list, the women's boots and ankle boots collection is worth browsing as a whole. It runs from ankle and combat styles to over-the-knee boots, and when we looked prices went from £745 for the Janiee Stretch Bootie 90 to £2,580 for the Lia Boot 105. You can filter by heel height, material and occasion, and women's sizes on that page run from 34 to 42, including half sizes, so it's worth checking the size you take in other European brands before you order. The brand also offers a repair service and lists its boutiques, from Milan's Via Monte Napoleone to Paris and Dubai, if you're shopping abroad.
