Green Box is the French shop of Greenbox, a packaging supplier based in Bremen, Germany. It sells food packaging and disposable tableware to the catering trade, from cafes, bakeries and ice-cream parlours to takeaways, food trucks, caterers and canteens, and it pitches itself on eco-friendlier materials such as card, paper, wood and PLA, along with a growing range of reusable containers.

One thing to know first: this is a French-language site priced in euros, mostly excluding VAT, and standard delivery is set up for France. The minimum order is €50 net. If you run a UK business, you can't simply pick the UK at checkout; Green Box asks you to email for a delivered quote. It's best suited to businesses trading in France, or anyone happy to arrange a quote.

What's worth a look

Here's a cross-section of the range, from everyday disposables to the reusable Merways line.

The 26 x 26 cm brown pizza box with a pizzaiolo print shows how the pricing works: you buy it by the pack of 100, and the price per pack drops as you order more packs. At the other end of the scale, the Merways reusable burger boxes and bowls are built for cafes running a deposit or return scheme, and several of them were on offer when we looked. They come in muted colours with names such as cashew cream, pepper grey, caramel brown and spinach green, with matching lids sold separately.

For events, the reusable 200 ml wine glass comes by the carton, and the clear PLA cups suit smoothies and iced drinks. Bakeries will find bread bags, cake boxes and windowed folding boxes, while sushi bars and noodle shops get their own boxes and trays.

Ordering works like any business supplier. Parcel orders usually arrive in two to four working days in France, freight takes a little longer, and business customers can't return goods that aren't faulty without agreement first, with a 30% handling fee if a return is accepted. Private buyers keep their legal right to cancel.

The shop also does custom-printed cups, ice-cream pots, salad bowls, pizza boxes and napkins if you want your own branding on your packaging.

How to save more

• Check the quantity price table on each product page: buying six or twelve packs at once cuts the price per piece.
• Order samples of anything new before committing to thousands of pieces.
• If you're ordering from outside France, email for a quote that includes delivery before you compare prices with local suppliers.
