GUSTATORY: a monthly coffee subscription from roasters across Europe

GUSTATORY sends speciality coffee from a rotating cast of independent roasters each month, and sells the grinders and brewers to go with it. Here's how it works and what to look at.

GUSTATORY is a UK-based coffee subscription with a twist: it doesn't roast anything itself. Instead it picks coffees from independent roasters in places like Copenhagen, Berlin, Barcelona, Budapest, Melbourne and Edinburgh, imports them, and packs them into one monthly box. If you take more than one bag, each comes from a different roaster, so it suits anyone who enjoys trying new coffees but doesn't want to order from six websites.

There are plans for most tastes and budgets. On the subscriptions page today, PERCENT (roasters' house coffees) is £8.50 a 250g bag, Selected Mix is £10.50, and Plus 87, which only features coffees scored 87 or more out of 100, is £13.50. There are also decaf, darker blend, single origin, Rest of World and Premium plans, Nespresso-compatible pods and SOLO coffee concentrate. You can set taste preferences, and amend, skip, pause or cancel whenever you like.

What's worth a look

GUSTATORY also sells brewing kit from well-known brands, so you can sort the beans and the gear in one place. Six pieces from the Kitchen range:

If you're starting from scratch, the AeroPress Original at £39.99 is an easy, forgiving brewer that makes one to three cups in about a minute, and the Hario Skerton N hand grinder at £65 means you can buy whole beans and grind them fresh. Those who already have the basics might look at the Wilfa Uniform, an electric flat-burr grinder with 41 settings from espresso to cafetière. Bear in mind Plus 87 and some other plans are whole bean only, so a grinder is worth having.

Current offers

New subscribers get a free extra bag of coffee in their first box (not on one-off purchases). The subscriptions page also shows code 10FOR3, which gives new subscribers 10% off three months. GUSTATORY says its subscribers saved an average of 34% against roasters' own retail prices in 2025, which is its own calculation rather than a discount you'll see at checkout.

How to save more

  • PERCENT is the cheapest tier per bag. Start there if you mostly drink milky coffee, and step up to Plus 87 if you take it black.
  • Add teas, Islands hot chocolate or oat milk to your monthly box instead of placing separate orders, so it all comes for a single £3 UK postage charge.
  • Pre-paying for 3, 6 or 12 months is also an option, and the gift versions cancel themselves when they end.

Delivery details and the next dispatch date are on GUSTATORY's delivery and returns page. Coffee can't be returned unless it's faulty, so choose your grind carefully.
