Kustomz is a small personalised clothing and gift shop run by Searlco Ltd, an Essex company based at Ongar Business Centre that has worked in digital marketing for many years. It's built around a simple idea: pick a plain product, open the online design editor, add your own words, colours or photos, and have it printed for you. It suits birthday and Christmas gifts, stag and hen weekends, family matching outfits and small events where you want everyone in the same top.

Alongside the blank products, Kustomz has its own cartoon range called Attitude Pals. These are cheeky animal characters with big personalities, printed on T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, couple sweatshirts, baseball caps and mugs. You can buy a design as it is or customise it further, for example by adding a name. The shop says the Attitude Pals designs are its own copyright-protected artwork.

Ordering works in three steps. Choose any product marked as customisable, open the editor to pick colours, add an Attitude Pal, type your words or upload your own pictures, then check out and wait for the post. The hoodies come in a range of colours, the couple sweatshirts go up to 5XL, and most T-shirts are offered in several colours and sizes, so it's worth clicking through the options on each product page before you start designing. What's worth a look

Here are six products from the shop, three ready-made Attitude Pals pieces and three blanks to design yourself.

The personalised mug at £15 is the cheapest way to try the design editor. Add a name, a date, a favourite quote or a photo for an easy gift. For something to wear, the Attitude Kid Manta T-shirt features a manta ray saying "I'm the kid with attitude" and comes in seven colours for £24.99. The Attitude Pals baseball cap is £19.99 in red, black, royal blue, navy or white.

How to save more

• Check names, dates and spelling carefully in the editor before you pay. Personalised items can only be returned if they arrive faulty.

• For group orders, design one item, then reuse the same design across the rest so everything matches.
• Start with a mug or a cap if you're new to the editor. They're the lowest-priced items, so it's a cheap way to see the print quality before ordering a batch of hoodies.
