Life & Looks: Belfast pharmacy beauty shop with La Roche-Posay

Life & Looks is the online shop of the McKay Pharmacy Group, which has served communities in Northern Ireland since 1976. The website launched in 2007 and is run from Belfast. It's on the MHRA's register of online medicine sellers, and it says it buys only through the authorised supply chain, so what you get is genuine stock.

It's a good fit if you already use pharmacy skincare brands and want to compare prices. La Roche-Posay makes up a large part of the skincare range, alongside L'Occitane bath and body products, Dermalogica, fragrance, hair care, toiletries and a clearance section. Many lines show a small reduction on the usual price.

What's worth a look

Here are six products we spotted, with prices as shown on the site when we looked.

The La Roche-Posay Serozinc Toner is a cheap, simple addition to a routine at £11.14, and the Toleriane Dermallergo Night moisturiser is down from £25.00 to £23.20. Stock moves quickly, though, and a lot of the range was showing as sold out when we checked, so if something you use regularly is in stock, it may be worth buying a spare.

Beyond La Roche-Posay, there's a decent range of L'Occitane bath and body products such as the Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Lotion at £23.79, which makes an easy gift. Dermalogica buyers get a longer return window than the rest of the shop: 30 days for unopened products. UK parcels under 3kg go by Royal Mail Tracked 48, and heavier orders go by DPD. The shop also ships worldwide, from as little as £3.00 according to its delivery page, though the buyer pays any local duties.

How to save more

• Join the Rewards Club before your first order so your spending counts towards a discount.
• Order before 12pm on a weekday for same-day dispatch. Delivery costs depend on weight and are shown at checkout, so grouping items into one order can keep postage down.
• Only unopened items can be returned, within 14 days and with a returns authorisation, so check shades and sizes before you buy.
• Compare the sale price with the crossed-out price before you add something to your basket. Some reductions are large, but many are only a few pence, so the free samples and rewards points may be the bigger saving.
