NextUp is a stand-up comedy streaming service run from Holborn in London. Four comedy fans, Sarah, Dan, Kenny and Stuart, started it in 2016 because they kept missing the live shows they wanted to see. It now films and livestreams comedy from clubs around the UK and says it splits membership revenue 50/50 with acts and venues. It suits anyone who loves live stand-up but can't get to a club every week, and it makes an easy present for a comedy fan.
Members get weekly livestreams from venues such as Angel Comedy, the Glee Club and Monkey Barrel, plus coverage from the Edinburgh Fringe. Most livestreams can be watched again for seven days, though during the Fringe each comedian decides whether their show can be replayed. There's a live chat while shows are on, member message boards, and an on-demand library of more than 200 specials and sets, with comedians including Ed Byrne, Milton Jones, Lucy Porter, Zoe Lyons and Alasdair Beckett-King.
You can watch in a web browser or on NextUp's apps for iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Fire TV and Apple TV, and cast to a television with Chromecast or AirPlay. Shows are filmed raw and uncut in real clubs, heckles included, so it feels much closer to a night out than a polished TV special. Outside the streaming service, NextUp also books comedians for corporate events and runs livestreaming for businesses, but the membership is what most people will want.

Current offers
We don't have any NextUp codes in our list yet. On NextUp's own site, membership is £20 a month or £80 a year, with no adverts on either plan. The yearly plan costs the same as four months on the monthly one, and NextUp says new members can get a full refund within 14 days. Gift cards are on sale too, and can be bought and claimed on the site, which makes a membership an easy Christmas present for someone who loves live comedy.
How to save more
- Go for the yearly plan if you think you'll watch for more than four months; it works out at about £6.67 a month.
- Use the seven-day catch-up rather than paying for tickets to every club night you're curious about.
- The Prime Video Channel version of NextUp is on-demand only, so join directly on nextupcomedy.com if you want the livestreams.
