Voyage Privé is a travel club that began in France and now runs a UK site alongside sites in Italy, Spain, Germany and several other European countries. It works differently from a normal travel agent: you join for free, log in, and then see a rotating set of private sales on hotels, packages, cruises and tours. Each sale stays live for up to 14 days and new ones arrive every day, with discounts for members advertised at up to 70%.

It suits people who are flexible about where they go and like the idea of a better hotel than they would normally book. If you have fixed dates and a fixed resort in mind, it is still worth a look, but the real value comes from browsing and spotting something that fits. The UK business, Voyage Privé UK Limited, is ATOL protected for flight-inclusive holidays (ATOL 10170) and is a member of ABTA.

What's worth a look

The public pages give you a feel for the kind of offers that come up, even before you log in for prices.

The Maldives page is a good example of the range, with five-star island resorts listed alongside a combined tour of Sri Lanka and a stay on a Maldives atoll. Closer to home, the Bath spa hotels guide covers places like The Gainsborough Bath Spa and Homewood Park, which suit a weekend away without a flight.

For something longer, the Japan tours page lists self-guided trips that link Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka over eight to fifteen nights, and the Caribbean all-inclusive page mixes beach resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic with a road trip around Costa Rica. Skiers can start with the France guide, which covers Val d’Isere, Courchevel and Chamonix and the kind of hotels that turn up in the sales. Treat these pages as a starting point: the live offers behind them change all the time.

Current offers

We don't have any Voyage Privé discount codes at the moment, and the club doesn't really use them. The savings come from the members-only prices themselves, which the site says run up to 70% off. Membership is free. A Black Friday holiday deals page is already up, listing hotels in Sicily, Malta, Rome, Porto and Crete plus a three-stop trip around Bali and Lombok. Prices only show once you are logged in, so check each offer for dates and what's included.

How to save more

• Sign up and turn on the weekly newsletter. Sales come and go within a fortnight, and the email is the easiest way to catch one before it closes.
• Compare like with like. Many offers bundle breakfast, half board, transfers or excursions, so add up what you would pay for each part separately before deciding it's a bargain.
• If you want the security of ATOL protection, choose an offer that includes flights. Hotel-only offers are not covered by ATOL.
