About borGO

borGO is a small tour operator based in Villamagna, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, about two hours east of Rome. It's run by borGO s.r.l., which lists Italian insolvency protection through Fondo Garanzia Viaggi on its site. The focus is slow travel: fewer places, more time in each, and experiences run by the people who live in Abruzzo's hill villages rather than big coach tours.

There are three ways to book. Single experiences include a wine tasting in Villamagna, which the site describes as Italy's smallest DOC, an e-bike tour of medieval villages and towers in the Subequana valley, an evening of food and stories in Castel di Ieri, and a wild-herb and folk-craft workshop. Packages bundle a village stay with local experiences, from a two-day food weekend in the Valle del Trigno to multi-day signature journeys built around local history. borGO can also design a tailor-made trip from scratch.

Prices are in euros and include VAT. Package prices are per person, based on two people sharing, and flights aren't included. Groups are usually two to ten people, every experience is available in English, and borGO says it reinvests 5% of every booking in local village projects.

borGO delivery and returns

DeliveryPackages include accommodation, at least one experience with local hosts and a local contact during your trip. Transfers from Rome or Pescara, train tickets and a private guide can be added on request. Flights aren't included.
ReturnsBookings are fully refundable if you cancel at least 72 hours before the experience. Later cancellations may lose 30% of the amount paid.
