About The Works
The Works is a UK discount retailer of books, arts and crafts, stationery, toys, games and gifts. It began in 1981, when Mike and Jane Crossley started selling remaindered books from their front room, and opened its first shop in Halesowen in 1984. The chain traded as Remainders Ltd before taking The Works name, went through several changes of ownership and an administration in 2008, and listed on the stock market in 2018. Its registered office is in Coleshill, near Birmingham.
The range includes fiction, non-fiction and children's books, art and craft supplies, stationery, jigsaws, toys, games and seasonal gifts. Much of it is sold through mix-and-match multibuys, such as three books for a set price.
The Works is now an in-store only retailer with more than 500 shops in high streets, shopping centres, retail parks, outlets and garden centres across the UK and Ireland. You can no longer buy from its website, and Click & Collect has ended, but the site still shows ranges and current offers. You can return goods to a store with a receipt within 28 days.

How to use The Works voucher codes
- Tap Get code on the offer you want. We copy the code for you and open The Works in a new tab.
- Check the offer's Terms first: some codes need a minimum spend, are for new customers only, or exclude sale items.
- Add what you want to your basket on theworks.co.uk.
- At checkout, choose delivery or click & collect. Click & Collect is no longer available.
- Paste the code into the discount code or promo code box and apply it. Check the discount shows in your order total before you pay.
- Didn't work? Tap Didn't work? under the code so we can recheck it, and read why codes fail.
Ways to save at The Works
- Plan purchases around the mix-and-match multibuys, such as 3 for £7.50 on fiction and non-fiction books.
- Kids' picture books are 3 for £5 or 10 for £10, so buying ten gives the lowest price per book.
- Check the books sale on the website before you visit a store, as selected titles are up to 78% off RRP.
- Keep your receipt, because without one you can only get an exchange or credit note rather than a refund.
