Mountain Warehouse has been selling its own-brand outdoor clothing since 1997 and has more than 250 UK shops you can collect from. Its prices look low, and its Black Friday preview is now live with up to 60% off selected lines. But how does it really compare with GO Outdoors, Millets, Blacks, Trespass and Regatta? We checked each shop's own website on 8 November 2026 for delivery, returns, discounts and the price of a waterproof jacket, walking boots and a fleece.

Where Mountain Warehouse wins

Returns. Mountain Warehouse gives 60 days to return, and it's advertising extended Christmas returns too. Regatta gives 30 days and Trespass 21 days (Trespass extends Christmas purchases to 14 January 2027). If you're buying presents now, the longer window is useful.

Collecting quickly. Express Click & Collect is free and ready within 2 hours at Mountain Warehouse's shops. Standard click and collect is free over £20 and £2.50 below that.

Warranty. Its Extreme range (jackets such as the Brisk Extreme and Rainforest II Extreme, and its Extreme down jackets) comes with a 3-year warranty. Its basic jackets, overtrousers and fleeces have 2 years. Regatta gives 12 months on everything, or 3 years on its Isotex clothing.

Cheap basics. The Snowdon II fleece is £9.99, with a 5/5 rating from 1,884 reviews. The Adventurer waterproof boots are £29.99. Those are the lowest prices for a fleece and a pair of waterproof boots in our checks.

On a mid-range waterproof, Mountain Warehouse's Brisk Extreme at £54.99 sits between Trespass and Regatta. It has twice the waterproof rating of the Trespass Bayhead (10,000mm against 5,000mm) and a 3-year warranty. Regatta's Birchdale II is the standout for the money, though, at 20,000mm for £50.

One thing to know: the crossed-out prices on Mountain Warehouse's pages are "comparable prices", what it thinks other leading brands would charge for similar quality. Its own pricing panel says they're "not intended to reflect a former price". Compare the price you pay, not the percentage off.

Discounts compared

  • Mountain Warehouse: 10% off your first order when you sign up to its emails (items it sells and ships only), 10% for students through UNiDAYS, and 15% for Blue Light Card members.
  • Trespass: 10% for students, and 10% for the armed forces and emergency services.
  • Regatta: free Regatta Rewards membership with free delivery and member prices, 12% for students through UNiDAYS, and an extra 15% for key workers.
  • GO Outdoors: a Member's Card for £5 a year, which unlocks member prices.
  • Millets and Blacks: 15% off your first order when you sign up to their emails (Blacks excludes some brands and sale items).

Where the others have the edge

  • Regatta has the best waterproof rating for the money we found (20,000mm for £50), and free membership gets you free delivery.
  • Trespass has free click and collect on every order, cheaper next-day delivery (£3.95, free over £90) and a £41.99 waterproof.
  • GO Outdoors has the widest range: fishing, bikes, horse riding and caravanning as well as walking. It has more than 100 stores, a £5 member's card and a price match.
  • Blacks is the place for premium brands such as Mountain Equipment, Montane, Fjallraven, Mammut and Rab. Its free delivery threshold is high, though, at £95.
  • Millets sells big names like Berghaus and The North Face at mid-range prices, with free delivery from £70.

Our verdict

For a family on a budget, or anyone who wants decent own-brand kit with a long returns window, Mountain Warehouse is hard to beat. It's especially good on fleeces, base layers and entry-level boots, and its Extreme jackets carry a 3-year warranty. If you want branded kit, go to Blacks or Millets. For the best waterproof spec per pound, check Regatta too.
