Carethy is a big online beauty and personal care marketplace run by Laboratorios Vanguard, a company near Barcelona. The UK site prices everything in pounds and covers skincare, haircare, make-up, hair colour, body care and suncare. Its parent company says the catalogue runs to more than 90,000 products.

It's worth a look if you like Spanish pharmacy and beauty brands that are hard to find in UK shops, or you want salon haircare at a discount. Bear in mind that orders come from Spain, so Carethy says any UK customs charges are paid by you. Some items are sold by other sellers on the marketplace, and the product page shows who you're buying from.

Olaplex is the featured brand at the moment, with plenty of reductions. The Olaplex 4-in-1 Moisture Mask 370 ml is £45.29, and the No.10 Bond Shaper Curl Defining Gel is £17.44. From the pharmacy aisle, the Vichy Dermablend Fluid Makeup Base is £21.99.

Spanish brand Freshly Cosmetics has a full range on the site, including its Oil-Control Hydrating Gel at £26.67. At the cheaper end, Naturtint's ammonia-free Permanent Hair Color Gel is £5.85 a box, and the Instituto Español Body Cream with Aloe Vera costs just £1.29.

Most of the products we looked at were marked as in stock and shipping the same day. Delivery options and times for the UK appear in your basket before you pay, so check them alongside the total. Carethy accepts cards through Stripe, plus PayPal and Klarna, and has live chat from 10am to 6pm Spanish time on weekdays.

How to save more

  • Join the Points Club. You earn points on every order and 15 extra points for each approved product review, and you can use them to pay for up to half of a later order. Points expire two months after you last earned or spent any.
  • Group your shopping into one bigger order to clear the £49 minimum for the 6% code, rather than placing several small ones.
  • Factor in delivery and possible customs charges at checkout, and compare the total with UK retailers before you buy big-ticket items.
