Hotel Andes Plaza is a four-star hotel in Chicó Norte, the financial, medical and diplomatic district in the north of Bogotá, Colombia. It belongs to the EM Hotels group. It's built for business travellers, people with appointments at nearby clinics or embassies, and groups, but it works as a base for a city break too. The hotel is on Avenida 15 at Calle 100, about 30 to 40 minutes from El Dorado International Airport.

This is a hotel in Colombia, not a UK business, and every price on its website is in Colombian pesos (COP). Your card provider will convert the charge, so check its foreign transaction fees before you book.

What's worth a look

The six room types, with the starting nightly rates the hotel's rooms page showed when we checked:

The Standard rooms on the second and third floors come as singles, twins, triples or quads, which suits families and groups, and include rooms adapted for guests with reduced mobility. Higher up, the Executive rooms on floors 9 and 10 have a king-size bed, a desk with an ergonomic chair and a coffee maker. The 11th-floor Smart Rooms add Alexa voice control and a free minibar, and the Andes Suite sleeps four.

For food, Lucía is the hotel's à la carte restaurant under chef Alejandro Dorante, mixing produce from the highlands around Bogotá with Mediterranean techniques. Le Place serves the breakfast buffet, and there's a lobby bar. The hotel also has a spa, a gym and seven event rooms, the largest for up to 200 people.

Nearby, the hotel lists the Unicentro and Andino shopping centres (both about 10 to 15 minutes away) and the restaurants and nightlife around Parque de la 93. Monserrate, the Gold Museum and the historic La Candelaria district are further south, about 12 km away.
